Poplars Sourcing Policy
Poplars source products and services from around the world using the best suppliers available. When a new supplier is considered, we carefully research their environmental credentials, check for ethical trading and listen carefully to their existing customers.
We like to buy local where we can and if we can’t by local then we will try and buy from Bedfordshire. If we have to then we will buy from England and then the UK and then Europe before going global. We will never buy from another planet – even if their products are out of this world!
However, this is only half the story. Just because a product is made locally, it doesn’t always make it the best one to buy. We carefully consider packaging and will always put pressure on our supply chain to reduce the amount of packaging they use – or take it back and use it again.
We try and avoid glitter – which is not good for the environment.
We love locally grown plants – because they are best for local conditions.
We love locally produced food – because fresh and homemade is always the best.
We love our local area and so we support local businesses – because they give the best service.
We love the philosophy behind fairtrade – because everyone should be properly rewarded.
We love organic – because this is best for the environment.
We love reducing peat use – because it is the right thing to do.
We love nature, the natural world and our environment and we want to do what is best.
