In November 2024, EB Solar of Milton Keynes installed 1048 solar panels on to our existing curved rooves. The system is capable of generating a huge amount of pure, clean energy – as long as the sun shines!

The garden centre typically uses around 40,000kWh of energy each month, of which 4,000kWh is used at night. Energy that is not used or stored by the garden centre is sent to the grid – this is known as energy export.

These solar panels have now been producing free, clean electricity for just over 12 months. Since going live the panels have generated 434,600kWh, of which 160,000kWh were fed back into the grid. The total carbon saved is 90 tonnes of CO2 which is equivalent to charging a smartphone 10.9 million times or providing the total electricity needed to power 161 average UK homes for a year.
